Driving along the road, from small housing area to loner road in Phuket, we started to doubt whether we were on the right track. If not for our trust in Oruxmap, we would have turn around back to the livelier Phuket town to scout for our dinner instead. Just as we turn at the corner, we finally found it – Pak Nam Seafood.
We were apprehensive upon seeing a batch of Chinese tourist waiting to be seated, wondering if this is a made-for-tourist restaurant but then, there’s a reason why people rave about this place as local diners’s favourite spot. Upon seated, we were indeed surrounded by locals save for the tourists we had seen earlier.
Pak Nam Seafood is a single story establishment, built mostly from wood with a ‘platform’ overlooking some part of Phuket town, but we didn’t walk around much.
Dehydrated from the earlier outing to Raya Island, I was hoping the water melon and coconut juice can soothe my cranky throat.
We decided to try squid steamed with lemon sauce, and made the mistake of asking the waitress to make it less spicy than usual. It was a wrong move, because it turned out bland lacking the bird’s eye chilies.
Seafood Fried Rice. It wasn’t styled seafood fried rice for nothing. Packed with plenty of seafood, it’s delicious and certainly not lacking of ‘wok hei’ (funny I should say this for Thai food). Despite being the ‘medium’ size, it was enough to feed four.
Tom Kha Seafood. You might be familiar with Tom Kha Gai, being the coconut chicken soup, and this is the version with seafood, hence the name – Tom Kha Seafood. Wasn’t a disappointment either, as it was creamy, flavorful and again, generous with its ingredients.
Our total bill was 550 Baht, and considering that we left with full stomachs and satisfied taste buds, I really have to get into the food blogs that got me here in the first place and leave a thank you comment there.
Getting to Pak Nam seafood is not very frustrating but will require clear instruction or a precise map. It’s on lonelier side of Ratsadanusorn Road at the edge of Monkey Hill.
