A little out of the way from main town of Batu Pahat, there is a shop that sells nasi lemak, famously for having toppings that are not usually in a nasi lemak menu. One of the toppings is non other than squid or Sotong King. I sniggered at the word ‘King’, very certain that they exaggerated on the size of the squid. That was.. until I got mine served.
The bigger-than-face squid had all the nasi lemak hidden beneath it. It was fried fresh, crispy and we need scissors to cut the piping hot squid into pieces before we can savour it. The taste was delightful at every chom.
To distinguish themselves further from other nasi lemak, the owner took the pain to make two batches of rice with the double santan-ed green rice and the normal santan white rice. Instead of cucumber, each plate of nasi lemak comes with slices of green apple.
On top of the gigantic squids , there are other choices like Siakap Goreng RM19 (fried seabass) and Puyuh Goreng (fried quail) as toppings which I am very interested to try soon.
Nasi Lemak Cik Chom opens from 5pm till 10 or 11pm, except for Monday.
